MW Wind Farm

Under the Kalyani Group initiative to generate green energy, 18.33 MW wind farm has been set up during the years 1998 to 2001.

The wind farm is spread over an expanse of 300 acres at site popularly known as Thosegar in Satara district of Maharashtra.

The wind farm consists of 51 wind energy generators (WEGs) of 230 kW and 11 WEGs of 600 kW.

The power generated is being utilized by Bharat Forge Ltd. at its plant in Pune.

Out of the total capacity, 14.65 MW of eligible capacity has been registered as CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) project and has availed CER (Certified Emission Reduction i.e carbon credits) benefits

As a result of rigorous performance monitoring, the wind farm has been generating power at a PLF (plant load factor) of around 25% which is one of the highest in the State and has also been accredited with the following:

Winners Trophy by Indian Wind Power Association (IWPA) for Best Performing Wind Farm (above 2 MW Category) among the wind farms located in the states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra for the year 2005-06

State Level Award for Excellence in Renewable Energy by Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) in appreciation of its achievements in Renewable Energy for the year 2003 in the category of grid connected projects (Investors – Commercial)
